Miranda Horn

Miranda Horn was born in Coushatta, La. October 4, 1972 and graduated from Pelican High School. She earned an associate’s degree in social work from Angelina College and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now known as the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).

Miranda was quite the athlete and attended both Angelina College and the University of Southwestern Louisiana on athletic scholarships for basketball.

Miranda is a highly experienced, dedicated professional with more than 10 years of experience in the Workforce Development industry. Her experience also includes several years of managerial skills in which she has been commended.

She worked for organizations including Neighborhood Centers and Workforce Solutions before she dedicated herself to helping her husband Andre E. Horn fulfill their vision of helping others. In 2007, Miranda and her husband founded Industrial Welding Academy (IWA) in East Houston. She serves as director.

Industrial Welding Academy is dedicated to teaching students the trade of welding through a uniquely designed curriculum, allowing graduates to achieve entry-level positions within the many fields of skilled trades that utilize the learned techniques of welding.

Miranda credits one reason for IWA’s success as being the continual training of its staff members. She said so often individuals are given expectations, but are not given the tools needed to meet those expectations.

One of Miranda’s favorite quotes is: “In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear.” – Bill Cosby

IWA believes in placing its students on the path to not just a job, but a career, by addressing the shortage of skilled workers in welding and imparting the value of integrity and discipline upon its students. Many students of IWA, many who have troubled pasts, have gone on to make six figures after graduating from the school’s programs.

Miranda is a member of Emmanuel C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop Hewitt Richardson, Sr. She is currently the member of the women’s executive team, dance ministry and financial department.

Miranda and her husband Andre have three children: Dalton, Desiree and Nyla.
