Regina G. Deadrick

A Texas native, Regina G. Deadrick hales from Palacios, Texas, and a family that taught, “No one is better than you, but you are no better than anyone else.” This conundrum would be difficult for many children but through the loving guidance of her parents, grandparents, and others, Regina learned self-worth, compassion for others, striving for excellence, and the optimism needed to survive in an often unfriendly world. Her parents, both educators, demanded excellence in all things and encouraged independent thought.

While in school, Regina excelled in competitive speech, debate, band, student government, and other school-related activities and student organizations. And a little-known fact about Regina, she was the 1976 Betty Crocker Family Leader of Tomorrow for Matagorda County.

Regina’s undergraduate studies were pursued at University of North Texas, where she majored in Political Science with a minor in Cultural History. She actively participated in campus life, joining the Black Coalition (a new and eye-opening experience for her, coming from a multi-cultural family background and hometown with less than 10% Black/African American population). She was the editor of The North Star, a literary magazine published by the Dean of Student’s Office, and several other student-led organizations.

The lessons learned in college far exceeded those earned through academic pursuits, and she emerged into adult life ready for whatever opportunities would come her way. After a short stint at the University of Houston (Victoria Campus), Regina sought new career opportunities in Houston, arriving in 1981.

As luck would have it, the group insurance industry emerged as the “yellow brick road” to a fulfilling 40+ year career for her. She began with CIGNA as a Group Administrative Rep, then as a Group Service Representative. In 1985, she transitioned into the brokerage side of the industry, joining Frank B. Hall Benefits. In the 1990s, agencies and brokerage firms changed through mergers and acquisitions, and Frank B. Hall became part of Aon, a growing global firm. After a few years with Aon, she had an opportunity to be part of the start-up of a local agency, Health Insurance Specialists, managing groups from 2 – 2,000 lives for 13 years before returning to Aon in 2007.

Today, she is an Assistant Vice President for Aon, focused on the middle market segment of the health solutions practice. She holds active group insurance licenses in 19 states and is proficient in fully insured and self-funded contracts, Business Travel Accident Coverage, benefit plan design, document/contract review, detailed claim analysis, renewal and new case marketing, and plan implementation. Additionally, her client service background facilitates consistent successes in the areas of claims resolution (PHI sensitive) and client administrative (eligibility and billing) issues.

A ready volunteer for a variety of causes, she is often called upon to offer hands and support to various nonprofit groups. Regina puts forth every effort to demonstrate “To whom much is given, much is required,” found in Luke 12:48.

She is both involved and visible in the Greater Houston community. She lives the values taught in childhood to give, share, and serve.

Regina has been recognized by Biltmore Who’s Who in Business and the National Association of Professional Women.

Regina stands on her words, “I must always carry myself with dignity and give the respect I expect to receive from others. Leadership comes naturally but has great responsibility. I hope to exhibit ‘lifting while climbing,’ for I must do good things for others as I strive for good things for myself.”
