Mandy Westerman

Mandy Westerman is Regional Vice President of Behavioral Health Services for Universal Health Services. Mandy provides oversight of behavioral health and substance abuse inpatient, residential, and outpatient programs across Texas, Mississippi and Missouri. Prior to joining Universal Health Services, she served as West Tennessee Regional Supervisor for the Specialized Crisis Program with Youth Villages. Mandy earned her bachelor’s in social work from Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and her master’s degree in social work, management and community practices from the University of Tennessee in Nashville, Tennessee. She served as a Mandatory Pre-Screening Agent for the state of TN while earning her license in social work. 

She has 12 years of experience with Universal Health Services as Director of Clinical Services, Associate Administrator, Chief Operating Officer in Training, Chief Executive Officer, and Group Director. In recognition of her consistent leadership, financial results, positive patient and employee satisfaction, community involvement and delivery of quality patient care, she was awarded the Chairman’s Council award in 2018 and 2020. 

Mandy is focused on meeting the behavioral health needs of the communities her facilities serve. Throughout her tenure with Universal Health Services, she has worked with her teams to increase accessible beds for all age groups across various markets. In addition to creating more access to inpatient beds and outpatient services, she is focused on ensuring the most vulnerable in our communities are being served. She has provided oversight of the development of specialty programs for first responders and healthcare providers, medically compromised patients, women, children and adolescents in state’s custody and veterans. She is also passionate about growing leaders and ensuring they have training and tools needed to be effective. She actively works with other organizational leaders as a part of the Chief Operator Officer training program. She serves as a mentor to participants as they learn role specific and management skills while developing their own leadership style.  

She values giving back and serving the community. Mandy has worked to establish internal and external opportunities for staff and their families to engage in community service activities. She also has facilitated a Houston market wide symposium and facility events to raise funds for the Suicide Prevention Lifeline, Open Door Mission, and Star of Hope. Mandy enjoys giving back to the community through Volunteer Houston, Houston Food Bank, NAMI, and her local church. 

Mandy continues her focus on advocating for staff and patients to ensure quality behavioral health services are available to those in need. She currently serves as the chair of the behavioral health council for the Texas Hospital Association. She is a member of ACHE and through her work in Texas, she has participated in Jail Diversion Task Forces, served on the NAMI Advisory Board, and been a member of the Houston Network of Behavioral Health Providers.
