Carol B. Brace

Honoree 2017, Carol Brace (Lecturer/Business Development Specialist) brings, to the University of Houston Downtown, 25-years of global supply chain – logistics experience 20 years from Compaq Computer Corporation/Hewlett Packard. The past 12 years focused on managing global supply chain logistics out of Shanghai and Taiwan. Brace also serves as a missionary traveling to countries around the world to share her masonry, plumbing and building skills. Brace’s academic preparation includes a BS in Industrial Management from University of Akron, a Masters in Occupational Technology from the University of Houston, and certifications in CTL, CIL, PMP, SCOR, and LSSBB.

A Native Houstonian, she is driven to give back to her community.  Touched by the needs of the thousands of displaced workers that were affected by layoffs due to the retirement of the Space Shuttle program she initiated and customized a LSSGB, LSSBB, PMP, and Logistics program bringing in leaders from various industries and creating a partnership with Mayor Annise Parker’s office.

January 2016, Brace and a core group of 19 women formed, an American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) charter was sought and obtained, kickoff luncheon was planned and on May 4, 2016 ABWA announced its 15th business league in the Greater Houston region, Women Empowering Women Express Network (WEWEN) and more than 100 women and men were in attendance “You are part of the largest formational meeting the national organization has ever had,” attendees were told as the luncheon began. “This area of northwest Houston is growing and so are the opportunities for business women” (Houston Chronicle, 2016). Then in October 2016, she enlisted the support of ABWA National and WEWEN and she chartered ABWA’s second national student business league ABWA University Park Express Network (UPEN).

She currently volunteers at The Women’s Home through The Zonta Club of Houston. Here she shares her talents by helping women in crisis regain their self-esteem training them in team building, time management, organizational skills, financial education, and other related topics.

Also to her credit, Brace received the 2017 Women of Excellence Award, through the Federation of Houston Professional Women for demonstrated excellence in her profession and the community, and lasting impression left on those organizations she serves and the people she helps.

She serves on the following boards: ABWA WEWEN – Pres., ABWA UPEN – Chair, American Latino Center for Education Research & Justice – Chair, FHPW Education Foundation – Corresponding Secretary, Klein ISD Business & Marketing Education – Advisory Committee, while being actively involved in: APICS, Chambers of Commerce – Cy Fair, East End, Northwest Houston and Tomball, CSCMP, ITMA, Leadership North Houston XXII, UHDNW MD Anderson Blood Drive, NAPM, NDTA, PMI, Zonta Club of Houston and works closely with our Corporate University Partner Hewlett Packard.
