Courtney Taylor

Courtney Taylor is a dynamic and strategic leader with over 15 years of experience across business, community, and nonprofit sectors. Currently, she is the Senior Vice President of Community Development at Veritex Community Bank, where she leads the institution’s community development initiatives in the Houston, Dallas, and Fort Worth areas.

Taylor excels at forging partnerships with nonprofit organizations; facilitating access to banking and lending resources; and managing community giving, educational programs, and volunteer initiatives. She prioritizes volunteering and is active on several boards, including the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and The Houston-Galveston Area Local Development Corporation. She also serves on several advisory boards: the Education Foundation of Harris County, The Women’s Resource of Greater Houston, SurviveHER Breast Cancer Organization, and The Women’s Small Business Center.

As a community advocate, Taylor has chaired numerous fundraisers, generating significant contributions to various causes. She has participated in many host committees and served as a brand ambassador for charitable initiatives. She is renowned for articulating complex financial topics, delivering the keynote at the Texas Financial Literacy Summit, presenting at the Texas Governor’s Small Business Summit, and engaging as a panelist, moderator, and judge at numerous business events.

Her commitment to educating and empowering communities has led her to serve in roles such as president of the Corporate Community Relations Council and board member for both the Houston Community College Foundation and The Credit Coalition. As a lifelong learner, Taylor continuously seeks educational opportunities to enhance her leadership skills. She has completed several leadership programs, including the American Leadership Forum Class LII, United Way’s Project Blueprint, the Federal Reserve’s BOLT Program, the Houston Black Leadership Institute, and the inaugural Texas Woman’s University Bold LeadHership program for women of color executives in 2022.

Taylor’s contributions have been recognized with numerous accolades, including being named a 40 Under 40 Honoree by the Houston Business Journal in 2024, 2024 Women’s Business Center Advocate of the Year, a 2024 Woman on the Move by Texas Executive Women, a 2023 Certificate of Congressional Recognition, a 2023 Pearl Honoree by the American Cancer Society, the 2022 Leader in Financial Education Award from the Texas Bankers Association, and the 2021 Volunteers of America Difference Maker of the Year Award. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Texas at San Antonio and an MBA from Texas Woman’s University.
