County District Attorney’s Office. In her 38 year career, she has built her own law firm,

She received her accounting degree in 1980 from the University of Houston, going to work
at Texas Commerce Bancshares, and rising through the ranks for a decade after. Building
on her business experience, she decided to pursue her legal education and attended Texas
Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. She graduated with her Juris
Doctorate cum laude in 1992.

King is licensed to practice law before all of the state courts of Texas, as well as the U.S.

She spent three years as an Assistant District Attorney in Harris County early in her legal
career. King started her own practice in 1995 and represented people charged with crimes
until 2016, named a Super Lawyer from 2011 to 2016 during her private career. During
that time, she was certified as a Specialist in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal
Specialization, and has more than 150 jury trials and over 100 appeals under her belt.

Further, she has received numerous honors for her legal work. King has won the Percy
Foreman Lawyer of the Year award from the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association
and the Lawyer of the Year and Unsung Hero awards from the Harris County Criminal
Defense Lawyers Association. Additionally, she was an adjunct law professor at her alma
mater, Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

King works to educate the community about the intricacies of the criminal justice
system with her speaking appearances and community service. With notoriety from her legal success and television platform, she gained the attention of WEtv, appearing in season one of Sisters In Law in 2016.

King now uses her business acumen and legal background to help DA Ogg create an office
that works to make our community safe though evidence-based prosecution and equal
justice for all. King loves the law and embraces her role as a prosecutor, “not to convict, but
to see that justice is done.”
