Joanie Y. Hare, M.D.

Dr. Joanie Y. Hare is a physician at Houston Perinatal Associates in Houston, Texas. After receiving her medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Dr. Hare completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and her fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

Dr. Hare is on the staff at Texas Children’s Hospital Pavilion for Women and The Woman’s Hospital of Texas, where she is presently chairman of the Board of Trustees. At The Woman’s Hospital, she is the Medical Director of the Perinatal Diabetes Program and Medical Director, Maternal Transport Service at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas and Assistant Medical Director at Reach Air Medical.

Since 2011, Dr. Hare has served on the Houston Board of the March of Dimes and chairs the Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait committee, whose focus is to decrease premature deliveries and combat disparities in maternal healthcare. Her dedication addressing these devastating realities in Houston’s African American community has earned her several distinguished honors and awards including “Houston Hero” from the Houston Chronicle and a member of the 2012 class of “Women on the Move.”

In 2012, Kathleen Sibelius, U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services invited her to serve a six-year term on the Advisory Council on Blood Stem Cell Transplantation Health Resources and Services Administration (HERSA) due to her strong leadership and relationship with the M.D. Anderson Cord Blood Bank Minority Recruitment Committee.

Dr. Hare is a member of Windsor Village United Methodist Church and is a board member of The Kingdom Builders Prayer Institute, whose purpose is to educate and the practice “Taking the world by Prayer.” Dr. Hare believes and practices prayer for her patients because her mission statement is “to give the best health care to women and babies despite the reality they have been told ‘it is impossible;’ every woman should reach any goal she desires.”
