Olivera Jankovska

A recipient of the 2017 United States of America President’s Volunteer Service Award, Olivera Jankovska is a champion of children’s rights and represents UNICEF as a Global Citizen Fellow. In her role, Jankovska empowers youth in the United States with the resources and skills to be effective global citizens – thinking globally and acting locally for the world’s most vulnerable children.

Jankovska is an organizer leading change through engagements with faith-based organizations, academic communities, independent volunteers, political appointees and other advocates. An economist by training and service leader at her core, Jankovska not only brings ten years of international development work experience, but she also has a strong business acumen. She simultaneously serves as the Nonresident Scholar at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy where she conducts research on international power markets.

Jankovska is proficient in seven languages and an avid traveler and was recognized as one of the 2015 United Macedonian’s Diaspora “40 under 40”. A global citizen, a double recipient of the ‘Outstanding Young Alumna Award’ for 2018 at University of Arkansas and at Virginia Tech, a published economist and a winner of the 2009 Wall Street Journal Academic Achievement Award, just to mention a few, Jankovska is not short of recognition for her extraordinary contributions to the non-profit, academia and private sector.

Jankovska received an A.S. in marketing from Perrotis College, Thessaloniki, Greece, a Bachelor of Science in agricultural business from the University of Arkansas, and a graduate certificate in international research & development and a Master of Science degree in agricultural and applied economics from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Jankovska is native of Kriva Palanka, Macedonia.
