Pamela B. McKay

Pamela B. McKay has been married to the radio industry for 31 years and has navigated through multiple ownership and company changes to work her way up the ladder.  She started as an account executive at KPRC-AM in 1991 and was promoted to Local Sales Manager in 1994.  In 1995 the company sold to Clear Channel and McKay was part of the transition team to bring the companies together.  In 1997 she was promoted to National Sales Manager and on to General Sales Manager in 1999. After a merger in 2000 with AMFM, McKay became GSM for Mix 96.5.

In June 2006 McKay was promoted to VP/Market Manager for Austin. This was the first time the company promoted someone from the sales manager of a single station to have complete oversight of an entire cluster of 6 stations. She worked with iconic country stations KASE and KVET-FM and was part of the Executive Leadership Team that helped identify “best practices” to be used across the company.

In 2017 McKay joined Radio One as VP/General Manager of the powerhouse Houston group and became the first African American female to hold this coveted position.  She is honored to work with legendary stations Majic 102.1, 97.9 The Box, and Praise 92.1 and a host of award-winning talent and leaders!

McKay, a proud board member for the Urban League, March of Dimes, and Black Chamber of Commerce, has received many professional and community accolades including:

  • AWRT – 25 Women Who Rule in Sales and Marketing 2008
  • African American Chamber of Commerce – 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year

Pam attended Texas Southern University to study Business Administration. She was a member of the Lady Tigers Basketball team and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.  McKay has been married to her husband Bob for 29 wonderful years and has four beautifully amazing children, Kellyn (currently a marketing executive at RCA) and soon-to-be 21-year-old triplets Kharson, Kendall, and Kamille.
