Suparna Chhibber, MD, FAAFP

A practicing family medicine physician, Dr. Suparna Chhibber has more than two decades of experience in clinical care, medical education, leadership, and advocacy.

Dr. Chhibber is triple board-certified in Family Medicine, Lifestyle Medicine, and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She currently leads a personalized wellness practice and serves as the President of Houston Family and Geriatric Medicine, a practice she founded to deliver comprehensive, patient-centered care across the lifespan with a focus on longevity, healthy aging, chronic disease management, and preventive health.

Dr. Chhibber earned her medical degree from India and completed her residency at The Methodist Family Medicine Residency and a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She also completed an Academic Faculty Development Fellowship while serving as a faculty member at the residency program she graduated from.

A passionate educator, Dr. Chhibber continues to serve as a volunteer clinical preceptor for the Texas Academy of Family Practice teaching medical students. Her scholarly work includes research in geriatric pharmacology, health disparities, and contributions to respected medical texts. She has also given national and international presentations at conferences for the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the North American Primary Care Research Group, and the Texas Academy of Family Practice.

In addition to her clinical roles, she has held multiple leadership positions throughout her career. She serves on Texas Academy of Family Physicians councils and is an active member of the Memorial Hermann PCP Governance Council

Dr. Chhibber has received multiple recognitions throughout her career, including the Methodist Hospital ICARE Award and most recently The Houstonia Magazine Top Doctor Award.

Dr. Chhibber believes that genes are not our destiny. She works closely with her patients to prevent, manage, and often reverse chronic diseases through lifestyle-based, evidence-driven care. As a certified lifestyle medicine physician and a Culinary Health Education Fundamentals (CHEF) Coach, she emphasizes the power of healthy habits — such as regular physical activity, restorative sleep, stress management, and positive social connections — and combines this with practical nutrition and cooking guidance to help patients make sustainable, health-promoting choices. Her mission is to empower patients to live long, healthy, and joyful lives.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Chhibber volunteers at local charity clinics, providing care to underserved communities. She is married to her husband of 31 years and is a proud mother of two children — a daughter who is a passionate scientist and a son currently in high school. She brings the same dedication to her family that she brings to her patients and community.
