Sameera Faridi

As Director and Designer of Poshak Fashion & Style, Sameera Faridi knows that fashion is symbolic. It’s quite literally the thread between culture, history, and personality. It is single-handedly the most expressive art form to date, and as the years and trends come and go, one thing remains. Fashion is constant.  When it comes to fashion, Sameera and her designs are not only known in Houston, but around the world.

Sameera was born in Riyadh Saudi Arabia. From an early age, Sameera was immersed in the world of fashion. Her father, Muzahir Faridi started a South Asian boutique in 1992 in Riyadh. In a few

years, they became the leading South Asian Store for ethnic clothing and school uniforms. Although Sameera began her studies in pre-med, her passion for creativity became more than just a pastime once she relocated from Middle East to USA. Upon arrival to the states, the renowned design program at Houston Community College became Sameera’s springboard into the world of fashion and soon, the stepping stone to opening her own boutique.

Sameera was awarded Best in Show at the 2004 Chic Streak Fashion Show, which kicked off a number of features and participation over the next few years in local fashion events. She was the first female South Asian designer to showcase her collection at Fashion Houston in 2014.

Gaining rapid popularity, Poshak Fashion & Style wasn’t only turning heads in-store. Poshak Fashion & Style has been in business for over 10 years, and the boutique has celebrated astounding accomplishments.

After years of panel judging, guest speaking, and community engagements, Sameera is currently President of the Fashion Advisory Board at Houston Community College, the home of where her fashion passion took flight.  Sameera has been recognized by the Houston Press in 2013 and has been awarded as the NAPW Professional Woman of the year in 2014. She was also nominated as one of the Emissary for the prestigious Aga Khan Foundation Houston for her work spreading awareness to end global poverty.

As Poshak Fashion & Style continues to be the go-to designer boutique for South Asian fashion, its expansion to clientele outside of the South Asian decent has contributed greatly to it becoming a well-known Houston staple.

Sameera has never been one to keep herself in a box when it comes to her fashion business. While successfully running Poshak Fashion & Style, she expanded her fashion empire and started

Sameera Faridi Design Studio, which is now one of the most talked about South Asian bridal boutiques in the United States.  Sameera’s design house has a philosophy to give clients a special experience when shopping for the perfect bridal and formal ensemble. A client’s personal touch with their imagination and Sameera’s design approach keeps her fashion business above the rest.

Sameera wants to turn her brand into a lifestyle brand.  Her goal is to be able to enrich the lives of all the people who choose to live a life of style.  As a mentor to fashion students, passing on her cultural inspirations to the next generation is her greatest satisfaction.
