Myrtle Jones is Senior Vice President of Tax at Halliburton Company. Jones graduated from Mississippi State University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting and is now a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas. As Senior Vice President, Tax at Halliburton, Jones manages the Company’s global tax matters in over 70 countries. She serves as the executive sponsor of Halliburton’s African American Networking Forum and sits on their Women’s Sharing Excellence Advisory Board.
Prior to her current role, Jones was Senior Managing Director of Tax and Internal Audit at Service Corporation International after spending a significant portion of her career at GlobalSantaFe, Inc. where she rose through the ranks from a Senior Tax Analyst to Vice President, Tax before the Company was acquired.
Her non-profit board service includes Genesys Works Houston, where she served as Chair of the Board, the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce where she served as Board Chair, Stages Repertory Theatre, the Houston Area Women’s Center, The Houston Zoo Inc. and Prairie View University’s School of Business Advisory Board. Her community service does not stop with board service. She also has chaired events such as The Houston Area Women’s Center’s 2019 Believe Luncheon, raising significant funds to support the community. She will also chair Genesys Works Houston Ambassadors Luncheon in the fall of 2019. Jones is also a member of the Fort Bend County Chapter of the Links Incorporated, the Greater Houston Partnership’s Executive Women’s Partnership and the International Women’s Forum.
She has received numerous awards including Black Enterprise Magazine’s Top 50 Women in Corporate America, Savoy Magazine’s Top 100 Black in Corporate America, the Houston Business Journal’s Top 25 Women in Oil and Gas and one of Channel 13’s 2020 Women of Distinction to name a few.
A native of Mississippi, Jones grew up on a small farm with her seven older siblings, her parents and grandparents. She moved to Houston immediately upon graduating from college, discovered that she was a city girl at heart and never left. She is constantly inspired by her three adult children Allie, Candice and Nate and now the newest addition to the family, son-in-law Chris, to be a positive role model, work hard and continue to serve the community.
In her spare time, Jones enjoys traveling, movies, theatre, hiking, spending time with family and friends and laughter.
