Cynthia Wenz

President & CEO, The Source for Women

“It’s not what we’re against, it’s what we’re for. We’re here for her.” -Cynthia Wenz, CEO of The Source for Women. She has proven those words time and again as a pioneer in the field of women’s holistic reproductive health.

When she accepted the position of unpaid CEO in 2009, Wenz brought along her experience as an event planner, wedding coordinator, accountant, entrepreneur, and general manager to two of Houston’s largest television post-production facilities. Coupled with her passion for life and a directive from on high, her main concern at that time was reviving the 27-year-old nonprofit so it could remain open to Houston’s underserved women.

Four years later, The Source has grown from a one-center operation to a network of three pregnancy medical clinics with a holistic response to the women’s health care access problem and the 24,000 annual abortions in Harris County.

The Source is the first PMC in the nation to become a Medicaid provider and focus its reproductive health services on the 73% of women who, according to Guttmacher, choose to terminate their pregnancies because they “feel they can’t afford to do otherwise.”

This CEO will not rest until that 73% know they have options and an incredible network of support in the community. She was recently featured on KPRC Houston Newsmakers with Khambrel Marshall, and KHOU 11 News with Sherry Williams. Her work at The Source has also caught the attention of the Texas Tribune, Houston and Austin Chronicles, News 92 FM, and WORLD Magazine, to name a few.

Under the guidance of an accomplished Board, The Source anticipates four new clinics in greater Houston over the next four years, with 15 to follow statewide.

Wenz is wife to rock-solid Man of God and Real Estate Investor Chris Wenz and mother to three sons, Roman, Justice and Caleb. She gives deep thanks to d-mars.com for honoring Cynthia Wenz as one of the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Houston.
