Ana Maria Brodbeck Schick

Ana Maria Brodbeck Schick has spent the past 20 years in nonprofit leadership. She will be joining the CFP Foundation as their executive director in September, leading the overall activities of this philanthropic family foundation focused on education. Most recently, Ana served as executive director of Small Steps Nurturing Center, a high-quality early child-hood education program serving students and families in the Fifth Ward and Gulfton areas. In her 11 years of leadership, Ana has worked to inspire excellence and is a faithful leader committed to continuous improvement. She led the organization through periods of growth, opening a new school in the Gulfton area in partnership with St. Luke’s United Methodist Church and expanding the Fifth Ward campus. Along with her board of directors and staff, Ana expanded the reach of this critical high-quality early intervention, serving more children and families in a deep and meaningful way and focusing on the whole child and their families. Ana led the organization through the challenging periods of Hurricane Harvey and COVID-19, opening Small Steps’ doors as soon as possible to serve Small Steps’ students and families during this uncertain time. During her tenure, Small Steps has been fully accredited twice by COGNIA. A passionate advocate for high-quality early childhood education, Ana believes in collaboration and the power of the network of community resources in Houston. Under Ana’s leadership, several new collaborations have been formed with Small Steps to provide resources to the students and families Small Steps serves.

Prior to working at Small Steps, Ana served for five years as executive director of Interface Samaritan Counseling Centers, a faith-based mental health counseling nonprofit. Before entering the nonprofit field, Ana spent 10 years working at Vinson & Elkins LLP in recruiting and client development.

Ana believes each step of her professional journey taught her many valuable lessons, and she is filled with gratitude for the people who were and continue to be part of her journey. Ana credits her parents for modeling an incredible work ethic and emphasizing the importance of giving back to the community. Embracing these values in her life, she is a committed volunteer to numerous causes around the city. Ana is a past president of The Junior League of Houston, Inc., a volunteer position leading one of the largest Junior League organizations in the country. In her 30+ years in Houston, she has volunteered and served in leadership positions for numerous organizations, including Amazing Place, American Red Cross, BEAR, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Group, Museum of Health and Medical Science, River Oaks Baptist School, St. John’s School, and St. Theresa Catholic Church.

Ana is Cuban American and a Louisiana native. She received a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. She and her husband, Mike, are the proud parents of two adult sons and a daughter-in-law.
