Dr. Cashuna Huddleston

Dr. Cashuna (Shun) Huddleston, is a licensed psychologist with clinical expertise in evidence-based treatments for co-morbid physical and psychological disorders, anxiety, and depression. She also has a specific interest in black women’s mental health issues. Dr. Huddleston owns two private practices in Houston, Texas. These practices provide specialized mental health care to clients, of all ages and backgrounds throughout Texas.  Her experience and training are multifaceted, ranging from inpatient hospitals, nursing and rehabilitation facilities, forensic work, outpatient therapy, and immigration, civil and family law assessments. She has also corroborated with media outlets and churches in sharing her training and knowledge of mental health. Dr. Huddleston’s style of care combines warmth with expertise. She incorporates an active, down-to-earth, practical approach to her work.

Dr. Huddleston received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Grambling State University, a Master’s degree in psychology from Texas Southern University, and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of Houston. She completed her internship residency training at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and her post-doctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine. She is also a trained and credentialed mediator.

Dr. Huddleston is a member of several organizations on the local and national level. Dr. Huddleston has a laudable publication and presentation record. She was instrumental in co-authoring a grant that was funded by the American Psychological Association (APA). This grant focused on leadership and career development among women of color. Dr. Huddleston has received several awards for leadership roles within APA and community-wide.

Dr. Huddleston is the Past President of the Psychology of Black Women where she hosted an event (entitled: 100 Black Women in Psychology) at the annual conference of the American Psychological Association to support and empower Black women in the field of psychology.

Dr. Huddleston is a mentor for Black female high school students in Houston who are interested in careers in psychology. Dr. Huddleston has been influential in helping expand the interest and support of young Black females in their process of becoming a psychologist. Given that only 4% of psychologists are Black, Dr. Huddleston has a personal mission to change that statistic. Dr. Huddleston also serves as a mental health expert in the Suits for Success program, created by a local councilman in which she mentors young male athletes about fundamental professional and collegiate expectations on a mental and physical level. 

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, doing circuit training workouts, running, fashion, and traveling.
