Dr. LaQuita Carter

Dr. LaQuita Carter is a passionate educator who has been touching the lives of children and families for more than 25 years. Influenced by her life-story; she is a servant leader with a giving heart – not only valuing community but working to create community as well. She takes great pride in having received a public school education and is forever grateful for growing up in the inner city of Chicago. Recalling her past experiences of overcoming feelings of isolation, Dr. Carter is committed to equipping others to be great no matter their circumstances.

Dr. Carter currently serves as an assistant superintendent in Spring Independent School District and is humbled to have had the opportunity to lead in a variety of areas in education including serving as a principal, assistant principal, literacy coach, teacher and adjunct professor in some of the nation’s largest education providers including Chicago Public Schools, Detroit Public Schools, Houston Independent School District, Concordia University and University of St. Thomas. In each of her roles she has remained true to “keeping children first”. Through her innate ability to coach and develop others, she’s been able to move school systems forward, push leaders past their limits and provide experiences to children that they will treasure for a lifetime.

She is co-founder of THQ Investment Enterprises, which focuses on providing leadership coaching, organizational development, strategic planning, and mentoring support. In addition, the company also specializes in capturing the moment through photography.

Dr. Carter is a fellow with the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators Texas Education Policy Institute, president of The Woodlands Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, an ex-officio board member of the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the steering committees for the Harris County Department of Education for Leadership Impact and Chi St. Luke’s Montgomery County Violence Prevention. She was recently nominated and accepted to participate in Leadership North Houston, a program designed to develop and strengthen leaders who work and live in the Houston area. She also contributes and adds value to a host of other committees that support community and children.

Dr. Carter is a native of Memphis but grew roots in Chicago and spent some time in Detroit. She now calls Houston home and can’t imagine being anywhere else. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Chicago State University, two Master of Arts degrees from Saint Xavier University and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.

She enjoys experiencing life with her husband, Dana and their three future leaders; Trinity, Harrison, and Quincy. She treasurers spending time with her friends and family who help her stay balanced while living life to the fullest. She believes in health and fitness and strives daily to live on purpose with the intent God has for her life.
