Dr. Karen Hill

Dr. Hill was raised in Columbus, Ohio and was number 7 of 8 children.  Her siblings set a high bar for education and career accomplishments and continue to keep her humble. She knew she wanted to be a doctor in kindergarten when girls were traditionally encouraged to pursue nursing.  She graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Microbiology.  She attended the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine where she met her husband, Chester Brown.  They moved to Houston where she completed a dual residency and board certification in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.  She started practice as Clinical Assistant Professor at Baylor College of Medicine where she split her time between private practice and academic medicine teaching and supervising medical students and residents. She served on the board of directors for Baylor~Methodist Primary Care Associates.

In July 2000, she opened her solo practice Internal Medicine and Pediatric Associates. Here she cared for the entire family from birth until death. Her interest always focused on prevention which led her to develop “The Life Long Weigh”, a successful weight loss and integrative medicine practice within her practice.

While continuing in her practice she continued to diversify her interests and was offered a part time position as Associated Medical Director at Amerigroup Corp, a company who served the Medicaid population in Houston, Austin, San Antonio and Corpus Christi, particularly pregnant women and children. In this position, Dr.Hill helped to develop programs to improve quality of care and outcomes for this population. This experience prompted her to attend the University of Houston Bauer School of Business to earn an executive MBA.

In 2014 she accepted a position as a Senior Medical Director at Cigna Health Spring and currently is Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Community Health Choice which is a leader in providing care to the underserved Medicaid and CHIP populations as well as those that receive insurance as a result of the Affordable Care Act.

Dr. Hill is active in the community as a member of The Houston Chapter of Jack and Jill. She served both as a co-chair and chair of their historic Debutante Ball. She chaired the scholarship brunch for the Houston Medical Forum and is a member of the Houston Chapter of Links Incorporated where she is chair of the scholarship committee. She is an active parent and is excited to help her son transition to the University of Miami for Mechanical Engineering and support her daughter in her last years of high school at St. Agnes Academy.

She enjoys spinning, biking and boot camp for exercise. She has not found a home improvement project she won’t attempt and enjoys spending time with her husband and two children Benjamin 18, and Camryn 16.
