Dr. Rachel Andress Davis, PharmD, RPh is a licensed pharmacist currently practicing in the Pharmacy Benefit Management sector at OptumRx, a division of United Health Group. Additionally, she manages the pharmacy practice at Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, where she oversees pharmacy compliance within their seven local clinics. During her 17 years of pharmacy practice she has remained committed to the improvement of health, wellness and the quality of life of others both inside and outside of the pharmacy.
Dr. Davis earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science degree from Texas A&M University ’95. She successfully completed the Doctoral Program in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern University where she earned a Doctorate of Pharmacy. During her pharmacy career, she has demonstrated her versatility in the numerous positions she’s held in Pharmacy Practice, as well as Human Resources as an Executive Pharmacist Recruiter for a national retail company for the Southeast Region of the country.
Dr. Davis has a passion for raising awareness and funding for local non-profit organizations that focus on impacting literacy efforts, supporting college scholarships and health and wellness. She has served on the host committees of Smahrt Girl Foundation’s Brunch and Ball Gowns 2015 & 2017, Texas Southern University’s Inaugural Maroon & Gray Affair 2017, The Inaugural Dance Lab Initiatives Houston Urban Nutcracker 2018 and as chairperson of Nicole’s Garden Inaugural Mad hatter’s Luncheon 2019.
Dr. Davis is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc by way of the Xi Alpha Omega Chapter where she has served as a financial member for 21 consecutive years. She has served on the Executive Board in assorted capacities and committee chairperson on local, cluster and regional levels. In the summer of 2018, Houston was the home of over 30,000 members during its 68th National Convention where Dr. Davis served as chairperson for Experience Houston: Celebrating the Pink on Discovery Green which hosted over 10,000 members of the organization.
Dr. Davis is happily married to Vice Mayor Pro Tem Houston City Council Member, Jerry Davis. Together they have chartered new territory in District B and throughout the City of Houston through numerous community endeavors, including but not limited to, Making It Better, a 501c3 organization focusing on literacy and leadership skills which currently serves over 1500 students in under-resourced areas of Houston.
Most importantly, they are parents to one son, Dean, and twin daughters, Rylie and Ryan, who give meaning, inspiration and purpose to their lives daily.
