Diane Englet

Diane Englet

Diane Englet is Senior Director of Corporate Community Relations for CenterPoint Energy. She leads the company’s philanthropic efforts, volunteer activities, and community and education outreach initiatives. In this position, Diane often sees the hardships that people – and communities as a whole – can face. Fortunately, she and her team are able to help make positives impacts in all of the communities that CenterPoint Energy touches.

People often say that CenterPoint Energy is “Always There,” and that’s true. The company’s culture empowers employees to give back to their communities and make a difference to help those in need. Whether coordinating employee volunteer activities, teaching students about electric and gas safety, or supporting environmental initiatives through tree planting, Diane’s team demonstrates each day that CenterPoint Energy is a responsible community partner. In 2016 alone, the company’s employees completed 237,500 volunteer hours, and more than 2,000 grants were donated to qualified nonprofit organizations.

As a proud New Orleanian, Diane attributes her love of life and cuisine to her upbringing in the picturesque “Big Easy.”  At an early age, she learned the value of giving back to the community from her mother who was an avid volunteer. In fact, Diane has vivid memories of joining her mother to help hurricane flood victims – by the end of the day they were no longer strangers, they became family. She would also accompany her mother to sing to the elderly at the assisted living facilities, arrange flowers for the church and deliver food baskets to those less fortunate. Each day, Diane proudly continues her mother’s legacy of giving back.

Englet is proud to serve on several nonprofit boards, including Trees for Houston, Houston Center for Literacy and the Houston Downtown Management District. She is also Chair of the Board of Boys and Girls Harbor, an organization that is very close to her heart. Its mission is to provide healthy, comprehensive residential care for children who are victims of abuse, neglect, abandonment or family hardship. Diane has chaired the Harbor’s Fantasy Football Draft Night for the past four years and is delighted to have raised more than $1 million for the cause.

Englet is married to Tobin Englet and is a proud mother of two sons, Duncan and Stephen. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management from the College of Business at the University of New Orleans and a Center for Corporate Citizenship Certification from Boston College. Diane also completed an Executive Development Program at the University of Idaho. She is a graduate of Leadership Houston and Leadership Texas, as well as a Senior Fellow with the American Leadership Forum. In 2016, Houston Woman Magazine named Diane one of Houston’s Fifty Most Influential Women and she was honored as a Breakthrough Woman during the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber 2016 No Limits Conference for Women.
