Dr. Tabitha S. Davis

A proud wife, mother, and educator is how Dr. Tabitha S. Davis defines herself. She is a native Houstonian who was proudly educated in Houston ISD schools before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration and Marketing from Houston Baptist University, an MBA from the University of St. Thomas, a Master of Education from Lamar University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of Houston.

Wanting to give back to the district that raised her, Dr. Davis joined HISD in 2008 as a high school Career & Technology Education teacher. Her administration journey began as Dean of Students at Westbury High School and the Young Women’s College Preparatory Academy (YWCPA) before serving as Campus Principal at Reagan K-8 Educational Center, Sterling High School, and YWCPA.

Dr. Davis has been a principal at HISD schools since 2016. She served at Reagan K-8 and Sterling High School before joining YWCPA, a STEM and College Prep school for girls, in 2021. Known for running her administration with compassion and a focus on engaging education, she thoroughly enjoys supporting teachers, advocating for students, and working with business and community partners to develop and support initiatives designed to provide her students with valuable enrichment opportunities. Under her inspiring leadership, YWCPA is an A-rated National Blue Ribbon School, ranked No. 2 in the Greater Houston area, with 100% annual graduation and college matriculation rates. Her daughter, Andrea, is a proud YWCPA scholar.

Dr. Davis’ career is highly decorated, receiving awards at all levels. She won the Pinnacle Award for Influential Women in Energy from Hart Energy in 2023, the Teacher of the Year award in 2013 at Challenge Early College High School, the Principal of the Year award (HISD South Area) in 2020, and the Principal of the Month award (HISD high schools) in December 2022. Dr. Davis also received the Houston ISD Excellence in Leadership award in September 2024. She served as a facilitator for the College Board’s Prepárate Conference in Los Angeles in April 2023 and as adjunct faculty for the University of Houston where she taught master’s and doctoral level educational leadership courses from 2018 until 2022.

Dr. Davis extends her abilities outside of the school, leading the Young Christians Ministry at Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where she is a faithful, lifelong member. She is one of 75 school leaders from across the United States selected to participate in the 2024-25 cohort of the Cahn Fellowship of Distinguished Principals. She is also a member of the Bay Area South Houston chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc.

Dr. Davis’ mission is to glorify God through her work as she endeavors to enrich the lives of young people via guidance, mentorship, and encouragement.
