Erica Davis Rouse

Erica Davis Rouse is a 3rd generation Houstonian with deep roots in the community. Her grandfather was President of the Galena Manor Civic Club which was her first memory of civic engagement. She remembers being a card-carrying junior member of the NAACP before she even understood what the NAACP was. She grew up with a strong understanding of what it meant to create a place for herself and also that it’s not always a comfortable seat to sit in. Erica’s mom, dad, and stepmom were all trailblazers in their industries, her mom an educator in Pasadena ISD and her stepmother and dad as USPS Postmasters.

She and her husband Bobby founded ReachOne713, a nonprofit focused on serving families in the Southbelt-Pasadena area of Houston. What started as a simple way to help people recover more quickly after Hurricane Harvey turned into a full-fledged 501c3, now having served more than 1,000 families and children. For their efforts, ReachOne713 was awarded as one of the recipients of the Ford Freedom Unsung “Heroes of Harvey” honor. With the support of generous donors, ReachOne713 has successfully provided meals, backpacks, school supplies, and Christmas gifts for children and families in need in the area.

Education has always been at the forefront of opportunity and access, so in 2017, Erica felt the nudge to run for a seat on the San Jacinto College District Board of Trustees. After several months of campaigning and support from family and friends, she successfully became the 1st person of color and only the 3rd woman in the history of the college (founded in 1957) to serve as a Trustee.
Erica’s community involvement and honors include:

● Texas A&M President’s Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
● Former Board Member of Urban Souls Dance Company
● Board Member of Smahrt Girl Foundation
● Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
● Member of Jack and Jill, Greater Channel Chapter
● Yellowstone Academy Volunteer
● Making It Better Texas Volunteer
● 9th Wonder Foundation Volunteer
● 2021 Inductee into the Dobie High School Hall of Honor, Public Service
● Inaugural Member of the Houston Texans Cheerleaders
● Member of the Houston Texans NFL Cheerleader Alumni Association
● Former Miss Black Houston and Miss Black Texas

In 2019, being keenly aware of the decreasing number of African American students choosing Texas A&M as their University of choice, Erica partnered with other Black Aggies and programmed the first ever Aggie Impact Gala, raising more than $135,000 to support students of color desiring to attend Texas A&M or needing financial support to continue at TAMU.

Erica is a graduate of J. Frank Dobie High School and attended Texas A&M University, earning her BA in Journalism. Erica has more than 10 years in Radio and 10 years in Education in publishing and educational technology.

Erica is currently employed with SkinCeuticals in the Active Cosmetic Division of Loreal Beauty. She and her husband own and operate ReachOne Transport, a Logistics and Transportation company. They are the proud parents of 3 adult children, Evan, Keri, and Alexus. Erica enjoys being a Plexus brand ambassador, enjoying the empty nester lifestyle with her husband and the family pups and daily being intentional about trusting God to continue to guide her next steps!
