Laquita J. Cyprian

For more than 30 years, Laquita Cyprian, a proud Houston native and accomplished banker, has been working her way through the ranks in business leadership. Her mother and father instilled excellence, integrity, and hard work in her early.

Laquita attributes her accomplishments to being a risk-taker, a curious learner, optimism, and building meaningful relationships along the way. These relationships have allowed her to touch many sectors focused on helping individuals financially and bringing awareness to living a balanced and abundant life. This mindset has allowed her to serve in the Houston community in many ways. Her primary work includes business leader, banker, commercial lender, fundraiser, published author, real estate investor, and developer.

As Chief Banking Officer of Agility Bank, a new predominantly women-owned and led financial institution created for everyone, is where Laquita and team provide funding for local businesses. Prior to the bank launching in early 2022, she helped raise millions in capital to open the bank.

Laquita’s career in financial services spans more than 20 years, absorbing most of her knowledge in large banking firms. She served in many roles over the years, first as a bank manager at Bank of America in the early 2000s, where she led a team to open one of the first profitable de Novo (new bank) locations in the Houston market. She later used these skills to help build market share at Capital One when it launched in the Houston market in 2006.

Realizing her true passion was helping businesses thrive, she earned the opportunity to attend business lending school at Chase Bank in 2010, where she began her career as a commercial lender. Managing and expanding the profitability of one of the largest and most complex portfolios in the territory gave her financial insights to later help many other entrepreneurs scale their companies.

Laquita was personally scaling at this time as well. She developed her own strategies to acquire real estate in highly desirable areas of Houston. In 2019, her love for real estate led her to Melifera Partners, a group focused on, “Building Beautiful Communities and Having Fun Along the Way.” She self-published a book in 2021 about creating abundance through life’s challenges, with another in the works, providing insights for business owners to gain access to capital.

She attended the University of Houston where she studied Business Administration. She is passionate about the promises of God, an avid traveler, enjoys spending time with family and friends, a health and fitness advocate, community volunteer, and philanthropist.

Some of Laquita’s community involvement and honors include:

•Board of Directors of The Women’s Resource, Development Committee
•Former Board Chair of CSTEM
•Texas Woman’s University Dean’s Advisory Council
•Curate Capital Advisory Board
•Texas Southern University, JHJ Business Advisory Council
•Art Colony Association, Former Board Treasurer

Laquita believes we can have everything we desire in life, our dreams and desires were placed in our hearts and minds for a reason.
