Antoinette M. Jackson

Antoinette M. “Toni” Jackson is a commercial real estate partner at the law firm of Jones Walker concentrating in affordable housing and community development law. Ms. Jackson focuses on closing transactions utilizing specialized public/private financing structures including tax credits, bonds and other specialized financing. Jackson has represented clients developing multifamily housing and mixed-use developments throughout the southeast.

While representing the Galveston Housing Authority, Ms. Jackson successfully led the revitalization of public and affordable housing units destroyed in Galveston, TX following Hurricane Ike.  She has also worked to rebuild other communities impacted by natural disaster including New Orleans, Houston and southern Mississippi. Throughout her 25+ years of practicing, Toni has worked both in her personal and professional capacity to build and improve communities through the development of affordable housing and other community development endeavors. She also handles state and local legislative matters in the areas of affordable housing, construction, specialized financing tools and other real estate issues. In 2016, Ms. Jackson served on Mayor Turner’s transition team in the area of housing. Jackson frequently serves as a speaker in the area of affordable housing and community development law.

In August 2017, an essay by Jackson was published by the American Bar Association in a collection entitled GRIT, The Secret to Advancement: Stories of Successful Women Lawyers.  She was also recently recognized by the National Bar Association as a recipient of the prestigious Wiley A. Branton Award which is presented to “a person demonstrating leadership on the cutting edge of law for civil, social and economic justice”.

After the historic success of SuperBUILD 38 where Houston Habitat built 38 houses for Super Bowl XXXVIII, Toni again successfully chaired SuperBUILD 51 during Super Bowl LI.  Ms. Jackson is the former chair of the ABA Forum on Affordable Housing and Community Development Law and former president of the Texas Affiliation of Affordable Housing Providers. She is a life member of the National Bar Association, former board chair for Houston Habitat for Humanity and a member of the Texas Southern University Foundation Board and TMSL Advisory Board.

Jackson is a proud graduate of both the University of Virginia and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, Texas Southern University.
