LaTreace Harrison

LaTreace Harrison grew up in Houston, Texas and graduated from Jack Yates Sr. High School.  After graduating from Yates High School, Harrison went on to pursue both a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Health Education from Prairie View A&M University. She has 25 years of nursing experience, with 19 of those years in the managed care sector. Harrison began her nursing career at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center as an ICU nurse. Her experiences at Prairie View A&M College of Nursing and as an ICU nurse gave her the discipline and courage to excel in her field.  Harrison had the desire to teach those less fortunate the importance of understanding their health and the healthcare delivery system. In her current role, Harrison is employed by Amerigroup, a managed healthcare organization that is committed to serving the underserved.  Amerigroup is a subsidiary of Anthem, Inc., a Fortune 50 healthcare company.  Harrison graciously serves as Director of Health Care Management Services for the State of Texas. She is responsible for over 800,000 lives within the Texas service delivery area.  Members span throughout Austin, Beaumont, Dallas-Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, Lubbock, and San Antonio. As the Texas-Wide Director of Health Care Management Services, Harrison oversees the company’s Case Management Department, which includes OB, Pediatrics and Adults with chronic illnesses. She also heads up a second division within the company; Amerigroup’s Clinical Programs, which is comprised of the Sickle Cell Crisis Prevention Program, Wound Care Program, In-Home Practitioners Program, and the Emergency Room Program.  Harrison is passionate and committed to empowering those insured by Amerigroup to be equipped with the knowledge of accessing and navigating the healthcare system and understanding how to maximize their healthcare benefits.

Harrison makes a conscious effort to strive for a healthy balance when it comes to work, her social and personal life, which is why she is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Jack and Jill of America. She also serves as an Executive Board Member for the Monarchs’ Baseball Organization.

Harrison thanks God for her continued blessings and credits her ambition to her loving mother, Barbara Wilson, who raised 3 children as a single mom.  She is married to husband, Gregory “Greg” Harrison.  Both Harrison and Greg are the proud parents to daughter, Auset Harrison and son, Malik Harrison. Harrison is a long-time member of Windsor Village United Methodist Church. Her life’s motto is simply summed up in three words, “Just Do It,” (Nike) which is supported by her love for life and sports, as she actively participates with her son’s baseball involvement.
