Marla Fielder

Dr. Marla Fielder, R.Ph., was born in Columbia, Missouri.  She moved to Duncanville, Texas at the age of ten and relocated to Houston to pursue her studies at Texas Southern University.  She began her career with The Kroger Co. in 2000 as a pharmacy technician.  After completing her Doctor of Pharmacy studies at Texas Southern University in 2004, she was promoted to a pharmacist.  Since then, Dr. Fielder has held several leadership roles, including pharmacy manager, pharmacy coordinator, pharmacy sales manager and most recently, director of pharmacy merchandising. Dr. Fielder is the first African-American and first woman to assume this role in the Kroger Company.

Dr. Fielder is responsible for the division’s pharmacy operations, which includes more than 200 locations in Texas and Louisiana.  She the President of Women’s Edge, an internal organization aimed at developing and mentoring up-and-coming talent.  Dr. Fielder was recently named a Rising Star by Progressive Grocer in its annual Top Women in Grocery awards program and was honored as a Texas Southern University Distinguished Alumnus.

Dr. Fielder is a board member of Texas Federation of Drug Stores, a participant of Lone Star College – Tomball Pharmacy Advisory Committee and a faculty trainer for the American Pharmacists Association.

Dr. Fielder is an active member of her church, where she directs the Health Awareness Team, serves on the scholarship committee, a trustee and works with various youth programs, including Girl Scouts.  In her spare time, she enjoys mentoring young women and helping youth strive for excellence through education.  Dr. Fielder has been married to her husband, Danel, for 11 years, and they have two daughters, Destiny and Dani.
