Tami R. Hunter

Tami Renata Hunter serves as Advisor of Compliance, Global Supply Chain for ConocoPhillips, the world’s largest independent exploration and production company based on production and proved reserves.

Her career with ConocoPhillips began in 1988 when she joined the company as a contractor supporting the commercial trading organization. She was new to the Houston area and thought she would only invest one year’s time with the corporation. Well fast forward 30 years, Hunter is still employed with the company and has enjoyed an exciting multi-faceted career where she has successfully served in various roles and functions including Marketing Communications Specialist, Customer Service Lead, Quality Assurance Lead, Procurement Specialist and a 15-year commitment to advancing the company’s Supplier Diversity program.  That role is the one Hunter enjoyed and thrived most as it allowed her to fully immerse her talents and skills in cultivating relationships with historically underutilized business enterprises in the company’s supply chain.

Hunter managed to maintain a successful Supplier Diversity process for the company through volatile market conditions in the oil and gas industry.   Her unwavering persistence to successfully maintain a healthy diverse supplier portfolio did not go unnoticed.  Her involvement has garnered her awards such as Advocate of the Year, Helping Hand Award, and Rising Star Award from the Houston Minority Supplier Development Council, as well as the Soaring Heights Award from the Texas Business Alliance. She is also the recipient of two intercompany SPIRIT Awards for projects that she diligently worked for the collaboration of external stakeholder engagement and diverse supplier inclusion.

She has represented ConocoPhillips on business councils across the country in efforts to keep the company in the forefront of diverse supplier development and inclusion.  She has served on the Board of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council and is a current Board Member of the Women’s Business Enterprise Council South.

Hunter assumed her current position as Compliance Advisor with the company in October of 2018 where she is now responsible for the company’s supply chain compliance activities.

Hunter devotes her spare time to assisting economically disadvantaged families facing hard times.  She has a passion for mentoring and guiding young women and girls to overcoming life’s challenges. She has fostered many children in need. Hunter does not operate under a grant, non-profit or business name, rather gives of her personal resources.  When not working in corporate offices or devoting time to families in need, Hunter can be found at home engaging in DIY projects as she has a passion for restoring and decorating old homes.
