Chelsea Edwards

Chelsea Edwards is “daytime’s new bestie,” launching her daytime talk show “Chattin with Chelsea,” which will air Monday through Friday at 12:30 p.m. on Fox 26. Chelsea is a true homegrown talent, born in Houston and raised in Missouri City, Texas. She graduated from Hightower High School in 2002 and then from Texas Southern University’s School of Communications magna cum laude in 2006.

Chelsea started in the news media industry as a video editor for another local television station. She spent nearly seven years working behind the scenes while simultaneously running afterschool programs in underserved areas around Houston through a nonprofit organization.

With the encouragement of her late godmother, Alma Newsom, one of the first Black female anchors in Houston, Chelsea decided to switch roles and appear on camera, landing her first on-air job as a multimedia journalist at KWTX-TV in Waco and Killeen.

She spent two years covering military, crime, and community stories before being welcomed back to her hometown to work at Fox 26 as a morning news reporter in 2019. She later became a regular on the studio desk while filling in as an anchor on “Houston’s Morning Show.”

Chelsea has become a trusted voice in the Houston community, delivering impactful stories and educating viewers by shedding light on critical issues and providing a platform for diverse voices. She has covered breaking news and major weather events, rescuing a kitten on-air during Tropical Storm Beta and most recently braving the winds of Hurricane Beryl and directing viewers to resources in the aftermath.

Chelsea’s favorite stories have introduced audiences to innovative change-makers throughout the Houston area, and she has developed a passion for getting to know people and making connections that improve lives.

She has received several accolades for her work and recognition from local organizations for her commitment to her profession. Chelsea is well-known for her bubbly personality, natural hairstyles, and infectious smile.

She is also a busy, single mom of a 3-year-old and is always looking for ways to help juggle life’s demands, which is what “Chattin with Chelsea” is all about. Her new talk show will help empower modern-day women while she and her guests discuss trending topics, share tips and tricks, and laugh over midday meals. Tune in at 12:30 p.m. every weekday on Fox 26 starting August 26 for a brighter day with your new daytime bestie!
