Margaret Allen

Honoree 2017, Dr. Margaret Jeanelle Allen was born in Lafayette Louisiana, the youngest of nine children. Dr. Allen knew in high school that she wanted to work in the field of dentistry. She enrolled into the Debakey High School for Health Professions and it was then that she decided to become a dental hygienist.

Dr. Allen went on to study Biology at the University of Houston. She also earned a degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Texas Health Science Center. Dr. Allen’s passion for dentistry was clear and she decided to enroll in dental school. In 1995, Dr. Allen graduated from the Howard University College of Dentistry with a degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery.

Dr. Allen knows that she’s blessed; she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. During this time, she continued to care for patients while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments because practicing dentistry is her life’s passion. Her motto is, “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.”

Dr. Allen is a top dentist with 22 years of experience and the owner of Amazing Smiles, PLLC, with 2 locations – Sugar Land and a Houston office, located inside the Church of Bethels Place Empowerment Center. She understands the complexities of business proprietorship and the importance of delivering excellent services. This has led to a successful dental enterprise.

Dr. Allen also likes to give back locally as well as abroad. Dr. Allen has been on several mission trips to Africa, Haiti and the Dominican Republic.  Dr. Allen provides dental treatment for women, men and children in these poor countries. She also donates supplies for the mission trip when she wasn’t able to go.
Dr. Allen is grateful for the opportunity to share her story with patients. In addition to reminding patients to get periodic dental check-ups, she is also known to encourage annual mammograms and prostate screenings.

When Dr. Allen is not practicing dentistry, you may find her shopping, dining out or just relaxing, spending quality time with her daughter Myah and her family.
