Glenda Demas, MA, LPC, ACTP

Glenda Demas is a licensed professional counselor, advanced clinical trauma practitioner, and mental health advocate with 15 years of experience in crisis intervention and behavioral health management. A born Native Houstonian and graduate of Dwight D. Eisenhower High School, Glenda earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Houston-Downtown, a Master’s of Business Administration in Management from Letourneau University, a Master’s of Science in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University, and is currently in pursuit of her Doctorate in Health Psychology from North Central University.

Glenda’s passion and inspiration for raising awareness over the importance of mental health support came from her own personal experiences as a child and her desire to make sure that others knew that mental health issues should be destigmatized. To further her efforts in advocacy, she wrote herself in as the youngest Board of Director in history for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)-Greater Houston and is currently serving year 3 of her appointment.

Glenda is a member of the American Counseling Association, American Mental Health Counseling Association, American School Counseling Association, Houston Licensed Professional Counselors Association, Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated by way of Alpha Kappa Omega (Omicron Gamma-Initiating Chapter), with over 17 years of servitude to the sorority.

Glenda worked within the public education setting for a span of 13 years, starting as a speech teacher at a local middle school in Fort Bend I.S.D., and later to transition into the role of an at-risk counselor within the esteemed Katy I.S.D. Although Glenda had a sense of gratification working within the school communities to provide support, she knew her calling required her to be among other private practice practitioners, servicing those day-to-day who struggle with mental health challenges.

As the lead practitioner and owner of Pearls of Change Wellness, LLC, Glenda has worked avidly to provide mental health support to those throughout the Lone Star State and the state of Georgia, by offering individual and group counseling, training, education, and resources to the public and private sectors.

Glenda was nominated as one of Top 5 Preferred Mental Health Practitioners in Texas for 2020 by Cigna Health. In addition, she was chosen as the mental health clinician to represent Texas by the Boris L. Henson Foundation, founded by actress Taraji P. Henson, for their “Let’s Talk” free virtual therapy campaign.

Glenda is currently in pursuit of becoming the only nationally certified Public Safety Responder Clinician within the City of Houston.

Glenda’s overall goal is to continue to provide education and resources through MyND Your Mental Foundation, a nonprofit organization she established during the height of COVID-19 to support the community. Glenda’s motto is “Together We Can.”

She is the daughter of Glenn and Beulah Demas and the proud mother of two sons, Christian and Aiden.
