Amber Newman

Chief Executive Officer, Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County
Amber Newman joined the Boys & Girls Clubs of Brazoria County (BGCBC) in September 2016 as Chief Executive Officer. She is responsible for ensuring that the Boys & Girls Club meets its overall strategic and operational objectives. Prior to joining BGCBC, she was with The Houston Food Bank serving as the assistant development director, of donor services.
Newman has nearly two decades of experience in the non-profit sector and her professional career has focused on fundraising, community development, economic development and education development. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Dillard University located in New Orleans, Louisiana. Newman also holds a Master’s degree from Texas Southern University in Public Administration with a focus in Non-Profit. She also received a Fundraising Certification from Rice University. Newman sits on the board of directors for the Pink & Green Charitable Foundation, and Global 11, currently she sits on the Presidential Alumni Committee for Texas Southern University, Brentwood Baptist Church Scholarship Board, The St. John Missionary Baptist Church fundraising committee which was founded by freed slaves in 1869, and advisory board member for Sideline Serve and a member of Off the Field – National Football Player Wives Association and Threads. Newman was also named a d-mars.com Top 50 Black Professionals and Entrepreneurs and nominated as a panelist for the Congressional Black Caucus.
The Newman Family Philanthropic activities include working with the relief effort during and after Hurricane Katrina, Feeding the Homeless at the Salvation Army, working with Boys & Girls Club of Brazoria County, Volunteering at the Blue Triangle, District (K) “Klean it up, Green it up” campaign for former Council Member Larry Green, NFL youth Organization, Houston Football Preps Second Chance Camp, Houston Texans Youth Camps, Helping in supporting our servicemen and women in Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait and Afghanistan.
Newman is married to LeMarcus Newman, a Black Enterprise Top 100 Modern Men, and they have two children Amai and Lathan Newman. Her goal as CEO is to level the playing field for all the youth she serves.
