Dr. Tamara Williams

Dr. Tamara Williams is the president of Chamberlain University’s Houston campus. She brings nearly 20 years of combined experience in nursing practice and nursing education to her role.

Prior to joining Chamberlain University, Dr. Williams was a cardiac clinical nurse specialist at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. She has extensive clinical experience in cardiovascular nursing. Her work as a clinical nurse specialist has been dedicated to serving clients with hypertension and obesity in underserved communities. Dr. Williams also worked as an associate professor at Rush University College of Nursing in Chicago, where she taught foundational nursing courses and assisted with nursing curricular revisions.

Dr. Williams joined Chamberlain University’s Chicago campus in 2010 as the SIMCARE CENTERTM manager and went on to hold the roles of instructor, visiting professor and associate dean of academic operations. Dr. Williams has created and led successful teams and established a culture of inclusiveness and safety. In 2011, she was honored with the Chamberlain University Values Award for Outstanding Teamwork and Contributions to Student Success.

Dr. Williams is a member of the Texas Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International. She is an active volunteer, helping nursing students achieve their own volunteer goals by providing health screening and presentations to elderly participants at Lawndale Christian Community Center.

Dr. Williams earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Concordia University, a Master of Science in Nursing degree from Walden University and a Doctor of Education degree from Walden University.
