Gina Goosby-Harris graduated from S.P. Waltrip High School, attended the University of Houston–Downtown, where she studied Business Administration, and earned a certification in Payroll Administration through Texas Southern University. She continues to exemplify integrity, compassion, and transformational leadership through her decades of service, mentorship, and community advocacy.
After a distinguished 38-year career with the City of Houston, retiring in 2015 from the IT Department, Goosby-Harris earned recognition for her leadership in human resources, payroll administration, employee development, and organizational training. She led citywide workforce initiatives, implemented employee training programs, and helped improve operational efficiency across multiple departments, earning numerous recognitions for outstanding service and performance.
In addition to her public service career, Goosby-Harris is a successful entrepreneur and owner of GG’s Unlimited-Caterer & Wedding Consultant. Through her business, she has coordinated events and provided hospitality services for families, community organizations, and her church. Her commitment to service extends beyond business, as she personally prepared and delivered meals twice monthly to 35–40 senior citizens at no cost and continues to provide caregiving services for an elderly neighbor.
A devoted woman of faith, Goosby-Harris has been a member of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Sheldon L. Jackson, Sr., for more than 65 years. She currently serves as President and Directress of the Youth Choir, has made history as the church’s first female appointed to the Board of Trustees, and has helped raise more than $400,000 in support of the church’s ministries and mission.
Goosby-Harris has devoted more than 23 years of service and leadership to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, serving in multiple leadership roles and helping advance scholarship fundraising and educational initiatives for Texas students. Her leadership led to her election to the Board of Directors in 2023, and she also serves on the Education Contributions and Review Executive Committee.
Her civic and nonprofit leadership includes serving as Assistant Treasurer for Priority Trust Credit Union, Treasurer for the Association of Retired Houston Municipal Employees (ARHME), President of the Mt. Royal Village/Royal Crest Homeowners Association, Treasurer for the Order of the Eastern Star, and Founding Member and Chaplain of National Black Women Making a Difference (NBWMAD). She has also served in leadership roles with several civic, professional, and youth-focused organizations, reflecting her lifelong commitment to leadership development and community advancement.
