Lisa Ashley

Director, Corporate Communications, Port of Houston Authority

Lisa Ashley is Director of Corporate Communications for the Port of Houston Authority. She is responsible for developing and managing internal and external communications. This includes corporate events, issues and crisis communications management, editorial, public awareness strategies and campaigns for the Port Authority. Ms. Ashley also serves as a spokesperson for the organization.  

A native Houstonian, Ms. Ashley earned a Bachelors of Arts in Speech Communications from Texas Southern University. She is a member of American Association of Port Authorities and serves as second Vice-Chair of its Public Relations Committee. Ms. Ashley is also a member of the Houston Association of Black Journalists, NAACP Houston and Houston CHARMS. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Prior to joining the Port Authority in 2007, Ms. Ashley had a successful 17-year career at Fox 26 KRIV-TV/My 20 KTXH-TV and was its Community Affairs Director.

As Director of Corporate Communications for the Port of Houston Authority, Ms. Ashley is   responsible for the creation and delivery of comprehensive communications plans, mobilizing and prioritizing messaging using a variety of tactics to promote the Port of Houston and the Port of Houston Authority. The port contributes to the creation of more than one million jobs in Texas and more than 2.1 million jobs nationwide, generating an economic impact of more than $178.5 billion to the state of Texas and $499 billion of economic activity to the nation.

The Port of Houston Authority is the governmental sponsor of the Port of Houston. Ms. Ashley is also responsible for promoting its community stewardship, business success and positive community impact. These campaign initiatives have resulted in multiple awards.

As Community Affairs Director for KRIV-TV FOX 26/My 20 KTXH-TV Houston, Ms. Ashley developed and maintained strong relationships with community leaders. Additionally, Ms. Ashley served as Executive Producer of two weekly half-hour public affairs programs and special event campaigns. She was Coordinator of the Houston-area Broadcasters Joint Ascertainment Sessions.

Ms. Ashley is a member of Westbury Church of Christ and is active in their Secret Sisters program.
