Mary Redmond

Mary Redmond is a successful McDonald’s owner and operator, and she is spreading the company’s message of good food, good people and good neighbors all over the Houston area.  She and her husband, Ernest Redmond have owned McDonald’s franchise locations in the Greater Houston area for the past 30 years.  During that time, they have seen their franchise operations grow and provide jobs for countless Houstonians over the years.

Mary saw that passion rewarded when she was presented with the Ronald Award.  This is the highest recognition given to a McDonald’s owner/operator.  This prestigious award is a salute to owner/operators who consistently and boldly execute McDonald’s vision, give back to their communities and are true brand ambassadors.  For those who know Mary, the award comes as no surprise.  Mary led the way for the McDonald’s Brand Ambassador Program, and she recently received the Brand Ambassadorship Award.

Her pride in promoting the McDonald’s system has been contagious and spreads to all of her restaurants and the people she employs.  As a leader, she not only educates her team through a solid training program, but encourages them to have fun as they work together to promote love of the McDonald’s brand.

“I love our children.  Often they are overlooked and told that greatness does not exist inside of them.  As a McDonald’s franchise owner, I am allowed to give them a different view of themselves. McDonald’s has provided an opportunity for me to pay it forward to the youth.  I am able to help shape their minds by telling them they are awesome.  It is a blessing to assist them in developing life skills and help them learn to become responsible adults in the community where they live. Our youth of today are worth fighting for, and McDonald’s provides the opportunity for me to tell every child that passes through our doors how awesome they are,” says Mary.  Her dedication to excellence and her appreciation for the people she employs has resulted in very high internal satisfaction scores for her business and a change in each youth’s self-belief.

She is currently a member of the board of directors of the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Brand Lead for Houston Regional McDonald’s, Lead for the McDonald’s Manager Leadership Council and has served in the capacity of several esteemed positions as vice president and secretary of the Black McDonald’s Operators Association, and has received numerous  awards for her service, but one in particular she is most proud, the 2014 Inspire Women Legacy Couple Award for leaving a legacy in the city of Houston that will extend beyond her lifetime.

The Houston franchise owner has been the champion of three chef events in Houston, which have garnered national attention and been invaluable tools in educating and promoting McDonald’s quality food standards and their commitment to excellence.

Mary is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University, and she is a member of New Faith Church.  Mary is driven and fueled by her dedication to promote the McDonald’s brand, and she has a genuine desire to make a difference in the community.  Mary says, “If I can get one child to dream big and believe they can own one of America’s most respected businesses as McDonald’s, then I have reached my goal of changing a child’s belief.  I want them to know they are awesome, and with God they can accomplish anything.”
