Tracy Taylor Smith

Driven by a passion for empowering people towards career and economic advancement, in 2006 Tracy Taylor Smith founded Taylor Smith Consulting (TSC), a staffing and professional development firm. In just over a decade, Tracy has grown her award-winning firm into a multi-million-dollar business with offices across several U.S. cities. Her Fortune 500 clients gush about the consistency and quality of TSC’s services. In 2017, TSC earned the distinction of being the only minority-owned firm to ever have provided staffing services for the Super Bowl, the World Series, and the Phoenix Open in the same year.

Before opening her own firm, Tracy was a key team member at the Harris County Toll Road Authority (HCTRA).  During her 20-year tenure at HCTRA, Tracy’s ingenuity and reliability catapulted her up the ranks to several leadership and managerial positions. These positions included being a Legislative Liaison, Division Director of EZ Tag Services, and Director Violation Enforcement. Houstonians can thank Tracy for not having to wait in line to pay tolls, as she was a member of the team that blazed a trail in implementing the electronic toll violation EZ Tag system in Harris County. In addition, Tracy co-authored the tolling industry publication, Implementing a Violation Enforcement System.

Tracy’s accomplishments have been recognized in publications such as USA Today, CNN Online News, and the Houston Business Journal.

Tracy obtained her Bachelor of Science in Management from the University of Phoenix. She is also a Houston Community College Alum, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Science Technology. Aside from this, Tracy holds certifications in Project Management and Leadership from the University of Houston.

Tracy is a native Houstonian, where she lives with her husband and children.  She is an active member of Fallbrook Church, where she is a member of the Leadership Team as well as a Board Member for the Career and Coaching Ministry.  In July of 2020 she released her first book, Shift on Purpose, an inspirational biographical account of her journey from teen mother to business magnate.
