Nargis Ahmed

Director, Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas

Nargis Ahmed was born in Karachi, Pakistan. She knew from a young age that she wanted to make a positive change in the lives of others. While in Pakistan, Ahmed was actively involved in helping to better her community. She worked as a consular for battered women for several different social service organizations.

Ahmed attended Saint Joseph’s College in Pakistan. She moved to Houston in 1974 after being accepted into a beauty school, Bellaire Beauty College. Ahmed has been a resident of Houston now for almost 40 years. While in Houston, Ahmed continued with her philanthropic efforts, remaining devoted to helping her community through positions in various organizations.

Ahmed has served as the director for the Muslim Democratic Caucus of Texas for one and a half years and a delegate for Fort Bend County for one and a half years. She has held several positions with the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce. These include one year as vice president of administration, one year as vice president of seminars workshop, and one year as vice president liaison. She also worked privately for her church in Houston, The Islamic Education Center.

Ahmed has worked on and off with the Pakistan American Association of Greater Houston for the past eight years, holding several different positions. She held the positions of chair of the women’s committee for two years and joint secretary for two years.

Ahmed is happily married and the mother of three children, all born and raised in Houston.
