Joyce Tyler-Williams

Joyce Tyler-Williams was born in Beaumont, Texas.  She has been a native of Houston for 57 years. She received her Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration from Texas Southern University School of Business.  She is Senior Vice- President and Community Development Officer for the Houston/Galveston Region of Frost Bank, where she has worked for 30 years.  As the Community Development Officer for the Houston/Galveston Region, Joyce is responsible for assisting the bank in assessing the credit and banking needs of Frost’s trade market, with special focus on low-income and moderate-income neighborhoods and minority segments of the market and assisting the bank in meeting those needs. Joyce’s responsibilities also include providing Financial Education classes for young adults, seniors and elementary students and coordinating the Frost Financial Youth Academy.

She serves on the following boards and committees of various professional and community organizations throughout the city:

  • Family Services Ways to Work Loan Committee
  • Houston Money Week Leadership Committee

  •  President of the Houston Chapter of the Drexel Society, Inc.

Joyce was the second woman to be elected as President of the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce (formerly known as the Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce).  She is also a member of the Knights and Ladies of St. Peter Claver Council & Court #138 (a national Catholic fraternal organization). She is a recipient of the Silver Medal of Merit Award and the Sir Knight Dennis Armelin Humanitarian Award from KPC for her outstanding contributions to the Diocese, church, community, family and as a Lady of Peter Claver.  She has been featured in Who’s Who in Black Houston and Presidential Who’s Who.  Joyce received an award for Outstanding Women in Banking and Financial Services and also received a Community Service Award from the National Women of Achievement, Inc. (Missouri City Metroplex Chapter).

Joyce is an active member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she serves as a Lector, Lay Minister and the Finance Council Chair.  She is married to James Williams.  She has one daughter, Earlene White, a son-in-law, Anthony White and three grandchildren, Shanteri, William and Angelica.  She also has one great granddaughter, Amaya.
