Dr. Rhonda D. Mason is an accomplished educational leader with more than 25 years of experience in public education and a deep commitment to students, families, and communities. She believes every child deserves access to high-quality learning in schools where they are known, supported, and challenged to succeed.

Dr. Mason currently serves as Superintendent of Schools for Alvin ISD. Prior to her appointment, she served as an Area Superintendent in Lamar Consolidated Independent School District, one of the fastest-growing school districts in Texas and the nation. In that role, she led and supported campus principals, strengthened instructional systems, and partnered with district leaders and the community to improve student outcomes in a rapidly growing district. Her leadership is defined by high expectations, strong relationships, and a steadfast focus on student success. She is passionate about developing leaders at every level, empowering educators to innovate, collaborate, and continuously improve instructional practices while fostering a culture of shared accountability.

Throughout her career, Dr. Mason has served as an assistant superintendent, executive director, principal, district literacy leader, and classroom teacher. She has a proven record of improving student achievement, developing effective leaders, and building systems that support continuous improvement. As a campus principal, she led her school to significant academic gains while creating a culture that emphasized excellence, innovation, and meaningful family and community engagement. Widely respected for her collaborative leadership style and strategic vision, Dr. Mason believes lasting success is achieved through strong relationships and a shared commitment to students.

Dr. Mason’s leadership has been recognized with numerous honors, including TABSE Principal of the Year, Distinguished Educator of the Year from Sam Houston State University, and Outstanding Doctoral Student of the Year. She is known for leading with integrity, building trust, and creating environments where students and staff can thrive. A dedicated advocate for leadership development, she believes investing in people is one of the most important responsibilities of educational leadership.

She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership, along with degrees from Sam Houston State University and the University of Texas at Arlington.

Dr. Mason is honored to serve the Alvin ISD community and is committed to working alongside the Board of Trustees, staff, families, and community members to build on the district’s strong foundation. Guided by a servant leadership philosophy, she is dedicated to preparing every student for success in college, careers, and life through transparent communication, meaningful partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
