Honorable Molly Cook

Honorable Molly Cook

Senator Molly Cook is a sixth-generation Texan, born and raised in the Houston area. She is a registered nurse and grassroots organizer. She earned her nursing degree from the University of Texas at Austin and her dual nursing and public health graduate degree from Johns Hopkins University. As an emergency room nurse and grassroots organizer, Senator Cook advocated for the health and safety of her neighbors, and she is honored to continue that work from the Texas Senate. Senator Cook’s community advocacy helped pass a citizen-driven amendment to the City of Houston charter, and she has been recognized by the Houston Chronicle as one of Houston’s transportation leaders.

Now, as Texas State Senator for District 15, Senator Cook represents almost a million Texans across Harris County. In the 89th Legislative Session, she advanced a legislative package guided by her “Nurse First” legislative agenda, which focuses on improving the health, safety, and quality of life for working and middle-class Texans. 7 bills she authored and sponsored were passed into law. She also brought home strong budget wins for Senate District 15, including fifty-four million dollars for the Cypress Ditch Regional Flood Mitigation Project led by the City of Bellaire. As a registered nurse, Senator Cook applied her frontline healthcare experience serving on the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services, the Senate Committee on Administration, and the Senate Committee on Local Government to work for her constituents and all Texans. This was Senator Cook’s first legislative session representing Senate District 15; she was present for 100 percent of roll calls and maintained a 100 percent voting record for the 4,488 record votes taken.

Active within the district year-round, her office hosts frequent town halls, subject matter teach-ins, and legislative training sessions. She is grateful to every constituent who guides the work of the Senate District 15 office and looks forward to fighting for policies that prioritize the bread-and butter issues facing working Texans this upcoming session. Senator Cook is a harpist, multi-modal transportation enthusiast, and certified yoga instructor. She is the proud custodian of her senior rescue chihuahua, Oso.
